POLVO DE ESTRELLAS EXHIBITION

Polvo de estrellas, mariposa Monarca is an exhibition that has toured throughout the Americas.

1994 ∙ It is seen for the first time in Querétaro’s Templo de San Agustín. That same year it is exhibited in the Casa del Marqués de Valdehoyos in Cartagena de Indias during a meeting of the G3 trade bloc (Colombia, Venezuela, Mexico).

1996 ∙ The exhibition returns to Mexico to be exhibited at the UNAM’s Centro Cultural Amoxcalli as part of the festival Monarca por una cultura para su conservación.

1997 ∙ The same exhibition, with modifications, travels to Canada under the name Polvo de estrellas… Imágenes de la mariposa Monarca en México, where it is exhibited at Ottawa’s Canadian Museum of Nature.

1998 ∙ The exhibition travels throughout Canada, visiting the Langley Centennial Museum in Port Alberni, British Columbia; the Musée Heritage in St. Albert, Alberta; the Stewart Hall Gallery in Pointe-Claire, Quebec; the Alberny Valley Museum in Saskatoon and the DesBrisay Museum in Benridgewater, Nova Scotia.

1999 ∙ After a long tour, the exhibition returns to Mexico, visiting the Ensenada campus of the Universidad Autónoma de Baja California, the Centro Cultural de Tijuana and the Casa de la Cultura in Tecate in Baja California.

2000 ∙ The exhibition visits Morelia’s Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolás de Hidalgo and Culiacán’s Colegio de Sinaloa before returning to Baja California to be exhibited at Mexicali’s Museo Universitario. It then travels to Brazil to be exhibited at the Universidad Federal de Pelotas’ Museo Leopoldo Gotuzzo in Iguazú, Río Grande do Sul as part of the XXI International Entomology Congress. That year, the exhibition concludes its journeys at Mexico City’s El Aire Centro de Arte under the title Travesía de la transfiguración polvo de estrellas, mariposa Monarca.

2002 ∙ Universum, the UNAM science museum, Mexico City.

2003 ∙ Centro Regional Arcadio Pagaza in Valle de Bravo, Mexico State as part of the Festival de las almas. She also exhibits at Mexico City’s Museo de la Luz and the UNAM’s Museo de Geología. The year closes with an exhibition in southern Mexico City’s Plaza Cuicuilco, organized with the support of the Federal Environmental Protection Prosecutor (Profepa).

2015 ∙ The book Metamorfosis. Travesía de Carmen Parra and the exhibition Mariposa Monarca eternidad de lo efímero 1982-2014 are presented at the Palacio de Medicina, UNAM, Mexico City.

2015 ∙ October 9. Inauguration of the travelling exhibition Metamorfosis: Mariposa Monarca: Eternidad de lo Efímero, 1982-2015 at its final location, UNAM’s Universum.
